CYCLE RIGHT is Ireland’s National Standard for cycle training, developed by the Department of Transport with Cycling Ireland and the Road Safety Authority. Riders move through the stages as their skills and confidence grow: Stage 1 covers bike control, the Rules of the Road and safe habits, starting off-road and moving on to quiet roads; Stages 2 and 3 take cyclists out onto real roads, with junctions, roundabouts and traffic.
Our instructors are certified by Cycling Ireland, Garda-vetted and first-aid trained.
Funding covers CYCLE RIGHT Stage 1 only for primary schools — funded by the Department of Transport and supported by these partners. We’ll help your school access it. Balance Bikes, Cycle Skills and CYCLE RIGHT Stages 2 and 3 are not funded.

“The Cycle Right Training programme delivery in our school was a huge success with some children learning to cycle in 4th class for the first time. The children learnt lots about road safety and safe signalling.”
