About CYCLE RIGHT

CYCLE RIGHT is Ireland’s National Standard for cycle training, developed by the Department of Transport with Cycling Ireland and the Road Safety Authority. Students move through the stages as their skills and confidence grow: Stage 1 covers bike control, the Rules of the Road and safe habits, starting in the schoolyard and moving on to quiet roads; Stages 2 and 3 take cyclists out onto real roads, with junctions, roundabouts and traffic.

We deliver it at your school with our own trained instructors, bikes and helmets — in over 60 schools this year. Secondary students can take on Stage 2, with our Road Safety Workshops alongside.

Example order — groups rotate, so each team does every activity.

Orienteering

Teams use our own mapped course on Killiney Hill to track down control points hidden among the trees and paths — learning to read a map, plan a route and make decisions together.

Archery Tag

Dodgeball meets archery: two teams face off across a safety zone with foam-tipped arrows. A hit puts you out, but catch an arrow and a teammate returns. Protective masks, clear rules and active supervision keep it safe.

Slacklining

Balance, focus and nerve on slacklines rigged between the trees — teens push for longer crossings and help spot each other across.

Bushcraft & Pioneering

In teams, students build a survival shelter from a tarp, twine and fallen wood. They learn why smaller is warmer, how to anchor to trees and how to insulate it. A Water Test at the end shows whether the roof holds.

Active Ireland Olympics

Teams go head to head in our own mini Olympics: caterpillar tracks, giant sack races, the Gutterball Pipeline (pass a ball down the pipes without moving your feet), dodgeball, a best-of-three Tug of War and more. Points on the board and a winning team crowned at the end.

Beach Adventure

The day finishes with a one-hour swim at White Rock Beach, with water safety guidance beforehand and staff supervising throughout.

Option: Swap in Tag Bulldogs or wide games for any activity.
